As the saying goes, “You only get one chance to make a first impression”.
Making your house look good on the outside is the first step in getting prospective buyers to come inside. Potential buyers will make a quick decision about whether they want to look at a house further right from their car. If they don’t like what they see on the outside, they will never come inside. So make sure their first impression is a good one.
The first thing you need to do is make sure your house and yard look good from the street. Drive up and down your street and look at your house as a prospective buyer would view it. Does your house look inviting?
Be sure to keep your yard mowed and trim the sidewalks and driveway. Make sure the bushes are cut back and trim back trees that might otherwise hide the house from view.
Make sure the kids don’t leave their toys in the yard or on the steps.
Plant flowers and keep everything watered well.
Repaint if necessary. Make sure that windows, shutters, doors and gutters are in good repair.
You never know when a potential buyer may drive by so don’t wait for an appointment to be made. Keep your house and yard in tip-top shape every day to maximize your potential for selling you home.
